Description
“The Virtues of Makkah” is a remarkable epistle authored by the celebrated Tabi’i, Sheikh Hasan Al-Basri (Rahimahullah), detailing the great splendour, sanctity, and blessings of the Holy City of Makkah. Regarded as one of the earliest classical works in Islamic literature, this book offers readers a rare glimpse into the spiritual significance of Makkah through the eyes of one of the most eminent scholars of the Tabi’een era.
Sheikh Hasan Al-Basri was born during the Khilafat of Hazrat Umar (Radhi Allahu Anhu), who personally performed his tahnik at birth. His mother served Hazrat Umme Salmah (Radhi Allahu Anha), the wife of Rasulullah (Sallallahu Alayhi Wasallam), and it is narrated that he was miraculously nursed by her in his mother’s absence — a blessing many attribute to the profound wisdom he later attained. He went on to become a distinguished Mufassir, Muhaddith, jurist, and Sufi Sheikh of his time.
Jointly published by Madrasah Arabia Islamia and Zam Zam Publishers, this timeless classical work is a valuable addition for anyone seeking a deeper appreciation of the sacred city of Makkah and the legacy of one of Islam’s most revered scholars.
