Authentic Islamic knowledge on the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ

In some speeches and da’wah gatherings it is mentioned that all the Prophets, peace be upon them, wished to be born in the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ. And that the dua of Hazrat Isa, peace be upon him, was accepted, which is why he will come in the end times as part of this Ummah.

However, this statement is not proven by any sahih, authentic, and marfu’ hadith.

According to the research of the scholars, there is no reliable narration proving that the previous Prophets, peace be upon them, made dua to be born in the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ. Such narrations are indeed mentioned in some books, but they are either extremely weak or fabricated. Therefore, they cannot be relied upon.

There are countless authentic evidences in the Noble Qur’an and in the sahih hadiths to describe the virtues of the Ummah of Muhammad ﷺ. Hence, the appropriate approach is to mention only those virtues that are established from sahih and reliable texts, and to avoid narrating such unproven reports.

The requirement of caution in matters of religion is that we should only convey that which is established by reliable evidence, especially when the matter relates to the Prophets, peace be upon them, and to the virtues of the Deen.
